Question:

Isn't USA gymnast Alicia Sacramone a good all around human being?

Like I posted before, I really feel bad for the blame she got when she had mistakes, but let me add something.

The two younger female gymnasts who did rather well yesterday, Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin, got a lot of their inspiration and determination from Alicia.

Alicia was the team spiritual leader and she's the altruistic person who sacrificed the most of her own practice time to help the other gymnasts cope with stressful situtations. She reached out to others besides herself and that really has to matter for something.

That's a quality that's not getting any attention in the olympics and that's just sad. When Alicia ages out of the olympics, she can do so many things with her life, this olympic s***w up shouldn't mean a thing.

If you had half Alicia's skill, wouldn't you think yourself really good?

  1. And you have first hand knowledge that she is a spiritual leader?  And that she is the altruistic person who made sacrifices??

Would like to know how you have this information..../

  2. Alicia is one of the best gymnist, i don't like it when people blame her for loosing the gold against china. She's human people, we all make mistakes. I think she was under pressure, and that got to her and thats were she made mistakes. People don't do good under pressure, she's a great person. Theres always london, she'll be back and better, and they'll win the gold.

  3. Alicia should not have sacrificed one moment of her practice time for anyone else. She clearly needed it for herself.  It's generally not a good idea to help others before you help yourself.  It's basic life skills.  I feel badly that she choked, and no, I don't blame her, but let's not make her into team martyr.

  4. If i had half of her skill i would think myself great lol. I think she is an awesome woman, who is so talented. I feel bad for her, and i hope that she has people to help comfort her and let her know not to blame herself. She still did good, and things happen. They still got silver, and i think she is going to do even better things with her life.

  5. Alicia is excellent. she just happened to make a crucial mistake but so what?? she's human like everyone else. heck id be ecstatic if i had an ounce of her grace because im the clumsiest person alive. lol!

people need to lay off her. she probably already feels bad enough as is, and everyone breathing down her back is going to make it worse. granted it is the olympics but imagine the pressure on her because everyone knows shes great. pressure like that gets to people after a while.

US still won a medal so its all gravy babyy

  6. alicia's one of my favourite gymnasts, along with shawn, svetlana khorkina and beth tweddle. so yes, i do think she's amazing. i'm level 9 so i guess i'm nearing the same level as her - but i do think it was harsh she was given all the blame.

for instance chellsie memmel only competed in one event, which would obviously bring the US's score down. another gymnast did too i think. anyways, i think they did extremely well coming in 2nd with two gymnasts only competing in one event and a couple of mistakes.

if chellsie had been fit, they'd definitely have come first. it just goes to show what a powerful team the USA had if they could come second with so many injuries, etc. i only wish team GB could be the same! x.

  7. Since I don't know her personally I can't say that she is or isn't. I think 98% of the human population is a good all around human beings - I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I don't understand why you feel bad that she got the "blame" for why the US didn't win the team gold. Look she made some mistakes, she fell off the beam she let that get the better of her during her next event in which she fell and stepped out of bounds. That's what happened I know they tried to "blame" it on the delay and her concentration got screwed up. I guess if you want to point fingers or blame someone for the reason why the US didn't win to make you feel better than go ahead. But the bottom line is she couldn't recover from her fall off the beam mentally, you could see it all on her face. Also when  the other US girls did their floor events they also stepped out of bounds which is a point reduction.

Its cool that you're an Alicia Sacramone fan and you feel a need to defend her but really there is no need. The USA didn't bring their A game that night. I'm not mad that we didn't win the gold that night, I am just happy we won the silver.

  8. Alicia should not be "BLAMED" at all for the US taking the silver.

Here is a quick look at why:

China won by a margin of 2.35 points.  OK

Alicia fell on beam.  that is an 8 tenths deduction.  Let's add an additional tenth to that for the tough scoring.  9 tenths.

Go with the same on floor.  9 tenths.  If you want to make this close, I will add 3 tenths for other misc. deductions.

So for Alicia's "MISTAKES" we total up 2.1 points worth of deductions.

By my math that still leave 1/4 of a point that she is not responsible for.

But being the champion/person she is, she took the responsibility for the loss.  That takes heart and shows her team sportsmanship.
