Isn't all this dream interpretation stuff a load of c**p?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no factual evidence exists proving that dreams can be properly interpreted.

There have been numerous books written on it, each one saying different things from the next. Many people claim they can interpret dreams, but each "guru" gives a different explanation than the other, and none of them have any solid theory to explain there work.

Is it just me, or does anyone else out there think that, because of this, all this dream interpretation stuff is a load of junk? If so, why is every 3rd question in Social Science about dream interpretation?

Dreams can only be properly interpreted by the person that is dreaming them. With the help of someone (say a counselor) who has knowledge about what certain symbols in dreams often mean and knowledge of the dreaming person, the two of them can interpret a dream based on their shared knowledge.

The rest of us just take a stab in the dark, but some experience in dream interpretation can lead you to your answer by how the dreamer tells about the dream. An experienced dream interpreter often picks up hints from the teller and uses them to help the direction of their interpretation.

Since only the dreamer knows which, if any, answers fit, they are the only ones that can choose a best answer on here. Sometimes there's no best answer but one or several of the answers may help the dreamer with suggestions that will lead them to the interpretation of their own dream.

Scientific dream interpretation is that dreams are caused by subconscious thoughts,images,sounds,ideas and emotions  occurring in unrelated sequence.  How did you behave in the dream ? Answer to this question is the correct interpretation.If you saw a fire in dream did you enjoy? did you fear?,did you hate ?.

Yes I enjoyed watching some house  in fire! Well that is the meaning of that dream. You want that house must be gutted.

dream interpretation stuff isnt a load of junk or c*** (yes i never swear unless absolutely necessary). of course theres no factual evidence proving that dreams can be PROPERLY interpreted.

but ppl who have strange dreams just want 2 know kind of what it means. all of us have sorta had that feeling before. dont u ever have this weird dream, and when u wake up, u want 2 find out so much what it means?! of course! everyone wants 2 know what their dreams mean, including u probably.

the ppl who ask those kinds of questions r just desperate 4 an answer, even though deep inside they know it might not be true, but it gives them a general idea of what it's all about.

next time think twice about wording ur questions. instead of saying "isnt all this dream interpretation stuff a load of c***", u can say "is there anyone out there who thinks dream interpretation doesnt make much sense?" or something like that!

Dreaming is a way to organize information perceived throughout the day.  If you couldn't dream, you would go crazy, being unable to distinguish reality from fantasy.  Dreams are very abstract and symbolic and there are multiple ways any dream can be interpreted.  The bottom line is that the best person to decide which interpretation is correct is the dreamer himself.  It takes a bit of self-exploration to really understand your own base feelings and driving forces.  No one can do it for you, but people can help, and give suggestions.
