Isn't it a little scary that a doctor's work is called practice? ?

  1. Absolutely. But consider the fact that they had to attend college for at least 6 years to get to "practice". Also keep in mind that they did a lot of practicing in school and in the real world before they got that handy little piece of paper that says they were allowed to "practice" medicine!


  2. Yes, and what's worse I've heard that "Physician, heal thyself" is a favorite saying among doctors.

  3. HAHA yeah. He is 'practicing' what he learned. I've gone to a few of them. Have got scars now that I have been told that if the procedure had been done differently I wouldn't have a scar at all. Have been cut improperly because someone didn't do a 'procedure' right in the first place. Yeah, they are practicing in their field, or someone elses.


  4. Come to think on it, no. I guess a doctor's work is called "practice" because medicine is an art kind of like music, dance, etc. It has to be honed and be practiced so that results will come of it. You know what I mean? Another thing is that medicine is ALWAYS advancing, so doctor's are always learning new things and how to do it, all the more reason to call it practice.
