Isn't it funny when.....?

NRL fans come on to the aussie rules section, and they say "our sport is so much tougher" or "your players are pansies, we're real men and we're tough"

i mean, apparently thats the only reason their sport is superior. because they're tough.... i can list numerous reasons why AFL is better, and they can only think of 1. and even that reason is debatable.

MY QUESTION IS.... who are you tipping this week in the Bulldogs v Brisbane match? should be a rippa

  1. Bullys to win.. but not by much.. The only reason I feel that this will be a Western Bulldogs win is that this game is being played in Melbourne. I have seen Brisbane capitulate at the dome in similar situations, eg, v St Kilda 2005 when they were on top of their game.  It could yet still be a draw given the quality of both of these teams.

  2. AFL NRL. Whatever. They're both Aussie sports. Get over it. NRL people bag the AFL people and vice versa.

I'm tipping the dogs over the lions.

    GO THE DOGGIES!

  3. gah don't you hate that!! we dont have all that many NRL fans down here in tassie but i assure you the ones we do have are just like that.

one even told me that rugby is the real football because they kick the ball more than in AFL haha, what a joke

    anyways...

yes dogs v lions.. i think the dogs will pull it off, it'll be a showdown between the 2 back lines because both teams are extremely strong in the midfield and forward lines so whoever's back line can prevail will win and i personally think the dogs' back line is walot more well rounded and stronger than lions

  4. "MY QUESTION IS.... who are you tipping this week in the Bulldogs v Brisbane match? should be a rippa"

Once again, the West Victorians prove how thick they are.

Canberra are Playing Brisbane this Sunday.  Go the mighty Raiders.

  5. definatly be a rippa,

but im gonna have to go the dogs.

i have this feeling (thats usually far from correct, BUT..) i have a feeling that the dogs will come out firing and pull out a big win.

    im talkin 39+ here

  6. dogs by 25

  7. Firstly, living in Sydney everyone is all about NRL, and it is quite terrible. I don't really like the sport and it is really stupid. And there is no way that it is tougher.

On to the point... I am tipping the Bulldogs. Brisbane are good but the Bulldogs are extremely fit and will outrun Brisbane centres. Also with Bradshaw out the Bulldogs forward line should be the stronger.

    Hope this helps

  8. I reckon Brisbane will beat the Bulldogs by 5 points.

Re NRL - You are spot on.  What always makes me laugh is all the "rest breaks" these guys get and the Umpire stuffing around discussing this and that after something happens and they all stand around and it takes ages to get the game going again and I would just bet the stamina of your average AFL player is heaps better than some of those big tough guys in the NRL.

Also hate to say it but I reckon that State of Origin is a joke and that the matches are almost fixed so they can go to the 3rd deciding "rubber".  Big money in that don't you think?

AFL  demands all types of skills (not just wrestling skills) and real athletic ability using all body shapes and sizes and look at the crowds.  It is a no-brainer which is the better and more watchable code.  Oh on that tough issue look at Barry Hall - just joking - now was that ever tough knocking out the opposition as easy pie (really just kidding).  On stamina alone the AFL guys are much tougher.  You know if there was a set up where both codes played each other at their own games I think I know who would do better.  I actually think the average AFL player has better dodging skills and many of them run like the wind.  Hey and what about the drama when the NRL guy gets a shot on goal.  You would swear Shakespeare scripted it - the look - the stance - the face (Oh save me!!).

  9. The Brisbane Broncos ;-)

  10. I wouldn't say NRL players are tough, more like a bunch of thugs.

    Lions to win tomorrow.

Dropkick you are the thick one....the team the question is talking about is the Brisbane Lions v Western Bulldogs in the AFL, not the Broncos v Raiders in the NRL

  11. Hahahaha good point!!!!

Don't really care about Bulldogs v Brisbane but I would say Bulldogs should win.

  12. I'll go the Lions, they are the quiet achievers of the season...

  13. I can't stand NRL, and other than the fact that it's just so rough, from watching games I really don't see a whole lot of skill in the game.  It's not like AFL where you can watch brilliant goals being kicked, awesome marks being taken etc, NRL doesn't have anything like that (or maybe that's just because I can't understand the sport).

As for who will win the Western Bulldogs v Brisbane game, I think it will be the Bulldogs, that's who I have tipped.  Should be a good game though, both teams have been travelling well.

  14. Yeah real funny.Pack of wankers those NRL people are...

Yeah alot of them are from NSW too,big fat lot of good it's done those Blues fans.Look at the *** kicking they got last night..

    30 NIL,how embarrasing...

    Now thats Funny.....

For your question,i say bulldoggy's by at least 35..

  15. Seeing they will be playing in front of a crowd of about 2,000 the real question is - who cares?

  16. NRL is so boring to watch. the players are all ugly and look really dumb. they are all really fat and dont know how to walk! the Bulldogs to win the match though.

  17. The dogs will chokeondick and lose the GAYFL match of the round by 70

  18. It'll be a difficult round.   If you get 8 you're doing well.   I've gone for the Doggies.   Purely on home ground advantage.

You're right about the League fans though.   I reckon they're closet Aussie Rules supporters in denial!   Why else would they spend so much time over here?

  19. Brisbane to win this game.

And there is no comparison between ARL & AFL. The Australian ARL team is selected from N.S.Welshmen  & Q'landers - & they take on & regularly beat teams from other countries; NZ; Sth Africa; Gt Brit; etc etc.....

AFL is trying to promote the game into all states as they want to entice RL players into playing AFL - because the rugby players have proved themselves so much better sportsmen than Aussie Rules players.

Only the Irish are able to be conned into playing Oz in Aussie Rules .....& that's a hybrid game with a ROUND ball!

  20. Totally agree with you!!

Im tipping Bulldogs to win by 10 points - should be a great game :)

  21. i know nrl is lame! ozzi rules kicks ***

i would have to tip the dogies because they are hungry and determined for a win.
