  1. nope, as long as they are wearng a dot helmet, and their parents let them, it's legal

  2. WHY? what age/size kids are you talking about?

I would say it should be illegal for a 5yr old but okay for 14. Of course there should be some sort of size limit also.

  3. I started giving my son rides when he was about 7. It requires even more effort and concentration, but we had a lot of good times that we reminisce about today (he's 23 now).

That child seat belt looks like a pretty good product. Maybe when my grandson gets a little older!?

BTW - finding gear for him was a problem for me too.

  4. YES IT IS. WITH A HELMET IN MOST STATES, BUT I THINK AS A BIKER (HARLEY RIDER) IT IS STUPID TO RISK A KIDS LIFE. THEY CAN PUT THE FOOT PEGS ANYWHERE THEY WANT BUT STILL NO WAY JOSE.

  5. It varies from state to state, but where I live, if their feet can reach the pegs they are good to go.

  6. It's legal.  If under 18, they must wear a DOT helmet (in most states).

My 7 year-old son rides with me everyday.  I take him to day-care and pick him up after work on my bike.  The day-care is only about 5 miles from my home, so his ride isn't very long.

What seems to be a little hard to find is gear for children.  My son has a leather jacket and gloves, however, I can't seem to find any mesh jackets to fit him...

For longer rides, I put him in a passenger harness.  He tends to fall asleep on longer rides, so the harness keeps him on the bike.  See the following link for the harness and a description.  It is very secure, and it attaches the passenger to the rider (not to the bike).

He loves riding, and it's great for us because when my wife and I want to go for a ride, we can take our son with us.

  7. The laws vary by state.  Some states have age restrictions and most, if not all have helmet use for children under 18.

    So, check your state laws.

  8. There is no age restriction for passengers in Florida according to American Motorcyclist, official website of American Motorcycle Assoc.

  9. California Law states the the MC shall have a seat that is located at the rear of the vehicle behind the primary driver and that the seat be fastened to the MC and that it must have foot pegs for the passenger and their feet must remain on the foot pegs while riding. Helmet laws also apply to the passenger.

  10. Their feet have to reach the rear foot pegs.
