unless one could conclusively prove beyond all reasonable doubt that God actually spoke those words to them in the first place?

Like maybe a tape recording of His voice?

  1. they'd say something like: "i have a close relationship with god, i speak to him and he speaks to me, my will is his will and his will is my will"

Sarah Paulin wants America to be a theocracy..

  2. She's making good use of the god card and also the special needs child card.

  3. yes.  These are the same people, when spouting their views of abortion say "god is against, it.  The bible says thou shall not kill, period, end of story" then they say the war in Iraq is a task from God.  Apparently not only does god have no problem with us invading a country and killing thousands of people, but he actually wanted us to do this.

  4. I'm pretty sure there were no tape recorders in biblical times and I'm pretty sure that God was there when victories were won.  I guess the best thing to do is see who wins the war.  This question is really an attack on a political person so why not say what you mean?

Maybe when Palin prays God spoke this to her heart?  I don't need a tape recorder for what my Lord speaks to me in prayer.  Perhaps you would be better served studying our religion before making remarks like this?

I happen to think that God has given insight to many people.  I wish more people would listen to what God has told them.

    Love in Christ,

    Michelle

  5. You have to believe nonsense like that in order for you to accept that your son is probably going to be in Iraq somewhere.

What has he been doing since he graduated from high school?

  6. Arf, i hate people who say that!

    It's bullshit!

Even if there was a god, why would he/she kill, torture and abuse thousands of innocent?!

  7. You are looking for scientific evidence for God. You can stop looking.

  8. I think that people that say that are stupid.

  9. Yes, you ought to live in another country and see how hilariously infantile it seems to us.

  10. I think so, especially since that is exactly what extremist terrorists are saying. I think that using God to support your own interests is a terribly tacky thing to do. How are we to know what God wants? Why does he speak to Sarah Palin but not to scientists curing cancer? I believe in God but I am not so egotistical to think that I am special enough to be spoken to with a direct and clear mission.

  11. Its a tactic at any rate. Everyone who believes in some form of god thinks its on their side. Islamic terrorists believe this as firmly as American dominionists or imperialists do. Then there are the people who crassly use faith to manipulate. Its hard to distinguish them. I tend to dismiss such talk and look at what concrete and objective reasons a person can come up with to justify their actions. Separation of church and state would be helpful in weeding through the BS here but as you can see its easier to appeal to people's emotions and love of self righteousness.

  12. For hundreds of years, Kings in Europe believed they were appointed by God's grace, and the church concurred.  Atrocities ensued, all in the name of 'God', but usually to satiate a greedy King.

Apparently, we as a nation have not yet learned from history that calling people to arms in the name of God has bad outcomes.  To say that the war in Iraq is a 'task from God' is beyond tacky:  it's dangerous.  And Palin isn't the only person in this country who believes this - that is the truly dangerous part.  Good people can do inhuman, unspeakable deeds in the name of their god (and this is not referring only to religious gods) if they have enough 'faith' that what they are doing is dictated and blessed by God.  It is gross negligence for anyone in a leadership role to take advantage of people's deep beliefs in order to attain the fruition of an agenda.

  13. People say that they are speeking for God all the time.  Especially when they are hating on someone else. They even wrotes some books about it.  Bible / Koran

Even the n***s used the GOT MIT UNS (God is with us) as a slogan.

I think that the possability that ANYONE that EVER lived knows what god wants is truely astronomicly remote.

I like Palin but I winced a little when she said that.

  14. Especially when it was wrong, wrong, wrong.

Apart from anything else, *just* apart from anything else, it fouled up the campaign in Afghanistan, for which there was a much better case.

"Gott mit Uns" on the march again?

  15. Nah.  She knew her audience.

  16. Tacky? No.

    Mendacious? Yea!

  17. It is God who appoints our leaders. We are to pray for them that they will do the will of God.

So if you blame our leadership for the war in Iraq, in a sense you are blaming God. For God appointed our President.

  18. No it is not if a person believes it is, however they could be mistaken as many are when talking about God.

And the rest of your question is more of a sarcastic rant then a fair question.

  19. Well, if you look at the implications of an omnisicent god, all actions are tasks from god since you have no choice but to perform them.

    But god doesn't exist.

  20. I know God hates war but im not the judge of anyone...please dont quote humans here....this is relig.

  21. the GOP have god on THEIR side, so with HIS blessing, they are authorized to do almost anything!

they are the chosen race (I mean party 8-)

  22. Saying anything is from God is kinda tacky.

    *shrug*

  23. It's tacky for politicians to mention god in the first place ---- they keep forgetting the "separation of church from state" bit for some reason....

It reminds me of the "God bless America, and no place else" line in Head of State...

  24. I think it's tacky to hate anything God-related, and dismiss people because they believe in God.

  25. Apparently God doesn't know that showing up would end atheism forever.

  26. If the oil companies are your god, then no, it makes perfect sense.

  27. not really...if you place it in context...

defending American isn't a task from God...you do understand that the revolutionary war many people preached it was the duty of a Christian to push off the tyranny of England...besides what would be a task from God...we aren't imperialists...we are protecting our interests by attacking our enemy and building a country from scratch that could help destabilize extremism in the middle east...i think you are just reading too much into it...

Resistance to Tyranny as a Christian Duty

Jonathan Mayhew delivered this sermon--one of the most influential in American history--on the anniversary of the execution of Charles I. In it, he explored the idea that Christians were obliged to suffer under an oppressive ruler, as some Anglicans argued. Mayhew asserted that resistance to a tyrant was a "glorious" Christian duty. In offering moral sanction for political and military resistance, Mayhew anticipated the position that most ministers took during the conflict with Britain.

  28. Agreed.

    God hates this war.

  29. No "tackier" than the 9/11 terrorists who said the same.

  30. Who said that?

I don't think this war has anything to do with religion. Just national safety. National safety is reason enough.

  31. It's not only tacky but disrespectful, offensive, and dangerous.  Muslim extremists use holy war as a justification for their actions.  She just gave them fuel for the fire(no pun intended).
