  1. Yes, 2 year olds can be quite messy.

  2. Yes it is... and it will be normal until he probably grows up and has his own house and realized he doesn't want to live in a pig pen and starts cleaning up after himself.  But then, that can by iffy too!  Just look at my husband.

Things can be especially difficult with a two year old because he lacks the language set necessary to tell you "why" he did something.  (i.e. Why did you pour water in mommy's house plants and drag out all the mud and roll in it?)  2 year olds may realize it's wrong to make a mess out of their food, but can not discern it's not okay to make some other kind of mess.  Until they realize that "making messes" are something to be avoided all together, tell your mother to stock up on some paper towels and chill pills.

  3. Good lord, my oldest is six and she still makes a mess! Does it ever end? haha... yes, very normal. And it doesn't matter how often you try to correct this messiness, they still do it.

  4. yeah....VERY normal.

i would think your mom should know that by now!!

  5. yes! of course it's normal! little kids like making messes! trust me personal experiences! tell your mom 2 lighten up a bit! =D good luck!

  6. Hi there

my 21/2 year old is the biggest messiest child in the world, everything that she eats gets in her hair, on her clothes, on the floor, her hands smear into anything that hits the highchair tray and then onto the back of the highchair.

pulls all the toys of the shelves, and basically if i'm not watching makes a big whirlwind through the lounge, c**p everywhere, its a constant battle with her.

My older daughter who is now 3 1/2, was the exact opposite, very clean when it came to food, and quite tidy with the toys, so was quite a shock for me when my second girl came along.

i think the problem is that our mums are over it, they forget what children can be like and sometimes my mum has gotten a little grumpy, but thats age for ya, we'll probably be the same when our grandkids come along (i hope not though)

  7. It's alot easier to just let them make their mess and then make a game of getting them to "help" you clean up rather than running around contantly picking up everything they touch or just changing their clothes after a messy meal rather than nag them all the time.

Kids are going to be kids!

  8. Yes it is normal.  you can try to introduce clean up now with a song or something but you can't get mad at them.  they really don't understand yet

  9. A two year old who doesn't make a mess isn't normal.  If your mother is babysitting your daughter I suggest you find another sitter.

  10. that's perfectly normal. they don't know any better and they don't have the coordination sometimes.

  11. YES!  Totally normal.  But they also can learn at this age to clean their toys up, although it takes some convinceing.

  12. Yes it is normal and it doesnt stop until they are much older and like things to be clean.

  13. I have a 1 month old and a 3 year old, and you should see the messes that they can make together and by themself, it's normal.

  14. yes its normal

i have NEVER met a two year old who doesnt enjoy making a mess now and then. tell your mom to chill. she should know by now that 2 year olds make messes.

  15. YES!  What's not normal is your mom getting mad over a two year old making a mess.  Is she serious?

However, messes can also be cleaned up.  Teach your mom a fun clean up song and allow her to learn how to help teach her grandchild to clean up her messes as well as learn to accept her making them.

  16. very very normal sometimes I look at my nieces hands and think " how can these tiny hands do so much damage"
