  1. You obviously know nothing about the relationship between the federal government and state governments. The 1st army response teams and FEMA could not respond until the government of Louisiana asked for their help. Governor Blanco did not do this soon enough. Most of the failures of Katrina were the fault of the state and local governments, with incompetent leaders like Blanco and Nagin. There was also alot of corruption by state and local officials in the handling of federal money that wasn't used the way it was supposed to. The people of Biloxi Mississipi got it worse, but they aren't bitching at the federal government.

  2. Foreign Minister took the words right out of my mouth. I have been saying this for 3 years.

  3. The question is why did so many local officials fill their pockets with our tax dollars and not administer the money better. If the country were smart they would have formed legion's of workers to rebuild the area and not permit all the waste that has occurred.

  4. He slept through katrina. Surely nothing else could be surprising?

  5. Hmmmmmm...... The president pretty much ignored  Katrina, and it's aftermath, which they're still feeling. A candidate who's trying to get elected has nothing but praise (and MAYBE a vote or two) to gain by going just in case. A rocket scientist was not required to answer this question!

  6. Foreign Minister's answer is nonsense. (clearly a Bush supporter.)

Take another example: Both houses of Congress voted to ban waterboarding and extreme methods of torture of prisoners.

    Bush over-ruled them.

Bush could have acted easily to help the people caught in Hurricane Katrina. He was quicker to send supplies to Georgia, adjacent to Russia, than he was to send aid to New Orleans.

  7. It's also odd how a President can lose the election, but still be in control!

We find it best not to Question them!

    GWB?

  8. Foreign Minister isn't quite correct. It was worse than a failure by the State to request assistance. Then-Governor "Blank Stare" Blanco TWICE refused to allow the Katrina response to be federalized.  That would have allowed regular military units to be used in the rescue effort - something otherwise prohibited by law.  Preventing the Republicans from gettinjg any credit for helping the city was more important to DEMOCRAT Governor Blanco than saving lives.

That was the reality, and why Louisiana elected a Republican Governor in the 2007 Primary (no runoff needed).  New Orleans may get a Republican Mayor in 2010.

  9. He is preparing his wind generators for ultimate electricity from the winds, trying to sell that for profit in his very nice Texas home while getting ready to leave from his 2 week vacation. Hmm, I get two weeks vacation but can't because everyone is laid off and nobody else is left to work!

  10. odd and sad. just like kelly osbourne.
