  2. Oh, lighten up folks! The superciliousness of the Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest is a laugh, not a moral exercise. Not every thing we do has some obscure sociological implication.

  5. I'm not sure what the fascination with hot dog eating contests is... but I don't see how that is "flaunting gluttony"... It's not as if it's broadcast in Ethiopia or something to starving children for our amusement...

  6. yes I do agree but also in some of the country's that people are starving the united states have sent aid over and the country's government would sell it so they could buy guns they would rather arm the troops and starve the people

  8. Absolutely.  And it isn't just America either.

    The fact is that the scales are not balanced and there will always be starving people and on the other hand, greedy gluttons.

    These days I feel guilty if I eat out - the sheer cost of a meal could perhaps feed a family of people elsewhere.
