I don't think that the Yankees will miss the playoffs.  We are still heading to mid August with over a month and a half of season left.  I doubt the Yankees will fold this easy.  They are gonna possibly be tied for the WIld Card lead with Boston going into September, and in September look for them to do what they always do, which is a late season surge to the postseason.

yea...its pretty sad...after all those things thats happened on that field...they end it not even making the playoffs...disappointing really...not wiing the ws or not even getting there through the payoffs is understandable...but with all that talent on the team...not even making it to the playoffs...is really really disappointin on their part

Even though I hate the Yankees I still think it will be kinda sad when they don't win the east. If it was a race between just them and the sox i'd say go yanks because I hate the sox even more but the rays are in it and they deserve it more.

First of all the yankees have a better chance to take over after the road games and then you will find out whether or not they have a chance to make it or not. Second of all, its not a waste of money dont be jealous just because the yankees actually have the money to spend on a new stadium!!!!!

Why not just renovate is a fairly easy answer, it's hard to expand and renovate at the same time.

However, I am never in favour of using tax payers money to fund multi-million dollar profit operations.  If you want the extra revenue, you should flip the bill for it.

As far as the Yankees missing the playoffs, I said that last year and ate a bit of crow.

I still hope they don't make the playoffs, but using the word "will" indicates that it's a certainty, where 'may' is more open to the possibility.

I guess there is no reason to finish playing the games this season if you already know what is going to happen.  You probably like telling everyone the ending of the book before we read it, and now you just spoiled the rest of the season for all the rest of us that didn't know the Yankees were not going to make the playoffs.

They are still very much in the race, I wouldn't count them out yet. I agree with you on the stadium and I am a Yankees fan. It is a shame to tear down a piece of American History such as Yankee Stadium. To me, that is like tearing down the white house.
