So, in Europe we are pretty bugged. The EU has just a while ago announced it's targets in cutting pollution in each member state. We are trying to do something here but the US just refuses to fight the global warming because it might hurt their economy. Isn't it quite selfish or what? What do you think about the US attitude towards global warming and why do you think it is like that. I want some hot debate!

  1. .. I don't think it's shelfish, and I don't think it's shellfish either.  I think it's selfish though, yeah.

  2. I live in the USA and I can tell you...The people are pure selfish whining idiots who attack anything that causes them to think for over ten minutes. Have you seen the schools? Might as well get a good laugh.... This country would switch to biofuel and cause more world hunger if the "elite" thought it would earn them more money. I'm only a teen but as soon as I'm 18 I'm leaving this dump.

  3. Why do you think that government mandates and targets will solve the problem (assuming a problem actually exists) they never have in the past.

  4. Maybe us North Americans don't like doing things the European way but Europe is hardly an example to follow for anything- Europeans have a habit of destroying themselves with major wars ever couple of generations, get us to come in and clean up the mess they made, then call us the barbaric ones.  There hasn't been a war on North American soil in the past 140 years- perhaps the Europeans should try following OUR example for a change because nothing pollutes like a city being blown to smithereens.

  5. Well, you can be pretty "bugged", as you are your own sovereign nations...  :)

Also, I can fully assure you without any doubt in my mind that in 5 years the Global Warming argument will all but drift away...  The reason is simple, which is that the last 2 years of data appears to not be fitting the theoretical models...  In fact, if the Solar Cycle 24 does not pick up soon, the issue we might be facing is increased cold, and not warming...

In short, I personally would really like to see some global warming.  I mean during the Jurassic period which had CO2 levels 5 times what we have today, they had more vegetation, wildlife, and land mass.  I want those days back!!!  :)

  6. Yahoo and Bush don't exactly represent me, a plethora of U.S. funded agencies, scores of universities, 300 mayors, or 19 Governors.

Our track record as a nation on this is abysmal.  On behalf of my country, I apologize.  But we are not refusing.  We're working behind-the-scenes and on the climate change battlefront to combat this phenomenon.  I wish I could say we're doing our fair share, but at least we are making a significant contribution to the cause.

  7. I think it's absolute ****. Which is one reason my husband and I are moving out of the US (in June we're moving to Singapore). I'm tired of this country's obsession with satisfying corporations. I hate not knowing what exactly the agenda of our government is, the only thing I know is that my interest and the interest of the planet are not on it! However, I have noticed an increase in "going green" commercials in the past few weeks. Corporations appear to be making an effort. I wish the government would make/enforce some kind of anti-pollution regulations, and encourage mass transit more, and punish litterers... and do many other things. It's depressing and sad to live here. But at least it does appear that people and individual companies are starting to wake the h**l up and do something.

  8. No, there are some virtues to being selfish-like eating, reading, seeing.... none to GW.
