Isn't it so unfair how some countries have so much food and some have so little?

Isn't it crazy how in america and many european countries there is so much food that obesity has become an epidemic when in many countries in africa and asia there is such little food that starvation and malnutrition are an epidemic. Shouldn't the richer countries with insane amounts of food do more to help the countries that don't have enough food and I don't just mean give them food but like give them resources so they can grow their own food and have wells for safe water etc

In the past sometimes I would want to lose weight but I have come to realize that I am a perfectly healthy weight and have learnt to just appreciate that i am healthy and have easy and constant access to food unlike many people in the 3rd world!

  1. This isn't just about other countries either - there are people in the US and 1st class countries who are starving and can't make ends meet. There is welfare but it only lasts SO long and then what do these people do when they can't find a job.Starvation and can happen ANYWHERE.This Obesity thing is only one angle and its getting so much recognition because the government doesn't want to pay for health-care - they want to keep that money and pay it back to the taxpayers who pay into it. So they make it seem like its the other taxpayer's fault and divide the middle class so that they can conquer and not do what is right.

  2. The problem in the world is not that there isn't enough food to go around - in fact we have so much food in the world that if it were distributed equally nobody would be hungry, much less starving. But the fact of the matter is that food is not distributed well. Even when countries such as the US and other developed countries send food supplies to the developing world, most of the food never reaches the people who need it most. This is because of a variety of reasons, but primarily due to corruption and a lack of infrastructure (roads, trains, trucks, etc.) to get the food to where it needs to go.

  3. It's a problem created by their own government's refusal to allow aid to reach the people.  Instead, they control the shipments and access to their country to control their population.

Recent events in Myanmar (Burma) should have made that perfectly clear.

  4. The problem of food distribution is disturbing and sad.  But there's good news here too - you can do something about it.

Check out FreeRice.com - for a little time on the computer playing word games and enriching your mind you can be responsible for sending rice to the UN Food program. What a deal!

If you can reduce your food budget by just $10 a month that's $10 you can send to an aid program.  That's only 2 trips to Starbuck's that could pay for a month's groceries elsewhere!

Not satisfied because corupt officials comendeer supplies?  Give to Heifer International or another organization that helps people make their own food.

Still not satisfied? Study social justice, start your own program, campaign against coruption, write to officials - or better yet become one that can make a positive change.

  5. The REAL problem is that to balance out the world's supply of food would mean that in some places, it might cost a few less pennies. We will never allow that to happen. It's better that people starve to death than the rich give a little more out of their pockets (nothing but greed).

  6. I agree
