Isn't it unhealty to have Nitrous Oxide in soda?

OK I just bought a Sunkist float only to find it it has Nitrous Oxide in it. What is laughing gas doing in soda and isn't it sort of unhealthy being a drug and all?

Drinking it doesn't affect you the same way breathing it does.
