Laughter can't cure everything, but it can get your mind off of your sickness.  The chemicals that are released when you're happy can help your body reduce stress, which is a common ailment for most patients who are depressed, or have chronic pain that can be caused from stress, such as back problems.  I know this because I have these pains caused by stress and whenever I start to feel the pain come on, I just change my way of thought by reading, watching funny movies, meditating, or hanging out with someone who makes me laugh!
