I mean, they are cooked the same way that you would to stir fry vegetables or other dishes. So why is fried rice called fried rice? is it really fried or stir fried?

  1. Fried rice is called fried because it is fried first before adding the other ingredients. Stir fried vegetables are called that because you must keep stirring them or they will burn.

  2. Its cooked as normal rice first, THEN fried. Stir fried...

  3. Yes... chefs often "toss the wok" continuously over the fire to stir instead of using the ladle-scoop to stir.

  4. It's actually parboiled first (or cooked completely in water)(like most rice is), THEN it's put into the wok.

If it's NOT cooked first, it will not get "done" -- stir-frying is way too fast to cook rice that isn't "pre-cooked".

  5. Yes, it is stir-fried and stir-frying involves both the use of the wok ladle & tossing of the wok with one hand. But as long as everyone knows what is fried rice, why bother with so much specifics especially when rice can only be fried one way ? You can't serve deep-fried or pan-fried rice, right?

  6. fried means you don't add any water when you cook, just to let you know. also, your objective when you cook fried rice is to make it a sortish of like brown. when you cook a vegetable, you don't really make it brown do you? it's not frying.

    fried chicken is brown

fried rice is brown-ish(you don't want to overcook it otherwise it's bad)

    fried-everything is brown.

  7. Yep, Fried is fried in a wok in a pan,a pot or a griddle. Stired or not
