Americans were naturally good at basketball and some other ball games. But China is the best (one of) in Gymnastics, Ping-Pong, and other games. Australia's good at swimming and other games, and so on. You can't expect a country to be the best at everything, they all have different areas.

And just because it was hosted in their home-court doesn't mean that gives them magic athletic powers

Well yeah but these are professional athletes here. The only thing had going for them was Yao Ming. The "Redeem Team" had to make up for Athens and with the lineup i won't be suprised if they get gold.

Not really no. The U.S. basketball team are all pros with years of NBA experience. The Chinese national team only has a few pros mainly Yao Ming. The rest are C-level players who are in new Chinese basketball leagues who have little experience playing outside the country. Besides, Yao Ming was recovering from injuries anyways and they did pretty good the first half.

Not really. They didn't expect them to win. Plus the crowd seems to love Yao and the American NBA stars and seemed to be enjoying the game. Now if the Redeem team loses to another country again like Athens, now that would be really embarassing.

well check this out. the usa basketball team was built around the Celtics and the Celtics were the all around best team in the usa... undefeated!! whoa! so yea i know were gonna do great :) and i have never seen a score that was higher then low 60's before! so it was amazing to see USA go over 100! and the Chinese had 70.. that's good too!

It's not embarrassing. China has never been good at basketball. The best score we ever had against the U.S was a difference of 47 points. We raised that by a lot, 16 points this time. We're proud of our team. It shows how far we've come. The whole basketball competition was almost a performance. When China first stepped onto the court, the winner was already decided. But for China to put up such a fight... They did us all proud. I'm proud of my country.
