Question:

Isn't the foundation of America's wealth personal reponsibility?

If you answered yes, why is Congress bailing out home owners who did not do their homework and took out unaffordable loans, or did their homework and decided to take a risk with a real estate investment? I sympathize with the very few deserving homeowners who are unable to make payments due to some great personal tragedy, but then again there is such a thing as disability insurance and life insurance. Where do we stop this trend of bailing out irresponsible people? Next thing you know failed businesses are going to ask for compensation. Followed closely by people who had 1000 times as many opportunities as the Chinese worker and yet choose to compete with unskilled laborers who a generation ago were in extreme poverty. When will liberals understand that the foundation of America's prosperity is in the concept of working hard and smart to get what you want and that handouts will just create the next generation of suckers who think they can raise families with a high school diploma?

  1. True.  The Liberals believe that everyone deserves a second chance like criminals, dropouts, crack addicts.  They simply do not realize that this will only lead to the degeneration of society.  We are becoming lazy.

  2. It was, essentially, conservative deregulation, as with the savings and loan debacle, that enabled the swift and the shady to undermine our economy for their own ends. Now stop posturing as though you have supported anything but the most corrupt administration in recent history.

  3. Hardly! The "foundation of America's wealth" is stealing an entire country from the people which lived here for thousands of years, while genociding them pretty much out of existence, and then proceeding to built the nation's railroads and industry from FREE SLAVE LABOR enabling a handful of Americans to pocket generations of pure profit.

THAT is the "foundation of America's wealth."

It's pretty easy to establish a big fat solid basis of wealth when you haven't PAID anybody for generations.

  4. Ya know, I really agree with you on these points. But, the foundation of our wealth on personal responsibility was based on 2 and 3 generations ago.

    Fast everything.

A big problem in this country is all the c**p coming at us.

    Technology changing every six weeks.

Everyone wants wants wants, heck I cant keep up anymore.

Stupid cell phones ringing all the time.

Computers on with emails, junk mail, spam and so on...

All the stuff around us is very confusing.

Back in the good old days when people were more responsible, life was a heck of a lot easier.

You know I think I need to move to the country.

  5. No: Puritanism initially, Hard work, self denial, delayed gratification, exploitation, slavery, vast stolen natural resources, luck in cleaning up at the end of the world wars, law (English) etc.

Latterly the understanding that pure Capitalism collapses every generation w/out a lot of control as proved prior to FDR's reforms, New Deal, Social Security and Capitalist Socialism in Europe.

Lots of kids w. rich parents will now be in for quite a shock!

  6. I can't believe how many people are really stupid enough to think the government is bailing out homeowners!

The bailing out is for the banks who were dumb enough to approve such loans in the first place.

  7. Ah, but it is okay with you conservatives to bail out financial institutions and corporations huh?  And by the way, p**s on the Chinese, I couldn't care less.

  8. Pick up an economics book sometime. They're not bailing out homeowners; they're bailing out the banks and the rich investors.

"What we have in this country is socialism for the rich and free enterprise for the poor." -- Gore Vidal

  9. We should not have deregulated the lending industry under the administration of our President George W. Bush. We made a HUGE mistake! In the past those loans would NEVER have been made, the bank would have denied them. I guess we just have to face the consequences of our fiscal mismanagement! Besides, home owners are just lazy like crack addicts and stuff

    like criminals and dropouts.

I BLAME the liberal American PEOPLE!
