Question:

Isn't the new Bus Station as dreadful as the old?

Bus stations in e.g. Dundee and Glasgow have warm lounges with a coffee shop; you can look out and exit straight to your bus when it comes. The new Aberdeen one has a cold outdoor platform, a high-ceilinged unwelcoming waiting area with few seats and hardly any view, only a shop selling a few soft drinks, Portakabin toilets closed entirely on Sundays, and no timetables available when the office is closed (which it often is). Am I alone in thinking it's dreadful?

  1. The old bus station was owned by Stagecoach Bluebird, but it was "in the way" of a new shopping complex.

The new bus station was built and is owned by the owners of the new shopping complex. All they are concerned about is the shops, so they have played scant regard to the needs of bus passengers.

Try writing to Aberdeen City Council with your concerns.

  2. Its horrible, at least at the old one you had the Gordon Cafe where you got a smashing coffee and great pies.  Hopefully when the centre is finished it will be a wee bit better.
