Isn't there a pesticide made from flowers that is non toxic to humans?

I watch the show Verminators often. They always seem to use a pesticide called "polyetherine" (or something like that) Does anyone know what this is and where I can purchase some? I have an ant problem and small children so I am not keen on using a toxic pesticide. Any help would be great.

  1. polyetherine well it kills ants and bugs by spreding the toxin to the colony

  2. YOU COULD TRY NEEM WHICH IS A PLANT AVAILABLE ALL OVER THE TROPICAL COUNTRIES

  3. Pyrethrin - It comes from the Pyrethrin daisy which is a type of Chyrsanthmum

  4. There are some products made from citrus oils and are not harmful to people...unless you drink it. It's that same oil that squirts out of an orange when you peel it....that's deadly to bugs....but have you ever gotten sick after eating an orange you peeled....well maybe if someone is a dummy and eats the peelings.

Check with your local garden store or Lowe's...ask them which ones are safe around people.

  5. insecticides made with pyrethrin will be as toxic (or non toxic) as just about any other insecticide made from other common ingredients.  You can find it at any place that sells insecticides... foggers used for fleas or roaches will usually use pyrethrin, non aerosol products used to directly spray on to plants and insects usually labeled as "natural". Pyrethrin products will not stop your ant problem, you will only be killing the foraging ants that you see which is less than 5% of the ant colony.  Use either Terro gel baits or Combat gel baits which will many times less toxic than the pyrethrin products, but the ants will be taking the toxin to the nest itself.  Remember you are watching a TV show, pest control really isn't all that dramatic and I've seen some of their techniques they are using that went out over 15 years ago....

  6. paper towels

  7. EcoSmart product are derived from plants and tree oils.  The have a specific product, EcoPCO that targets neuropathways found in insects but not found in mammals.

Pyrethrins are plant derived products that have a really low toxicity to humans.  The problem is that these plants grow in Africa and are hard to come by right now.  So there is a man made alternative its called a pyrethroid.  The best product that I know of like this is Cy-Kick CS.  http://www.pestprojoe.com/product.php?pr...

But, you don't want to use this for ants.  You want an ant bait.  Gourmet Ant Bait is less toxic then toothpaste.   http://www.pestprojoe.com/home.php?cat=2...

Use the bait first to kill of the colony then treat the exterior with the cy-kick

  8. Non-toxic solutions to get rid of your ant problems:

1- Sprinkle a mixture of sugar and borax (found in the laundry products aisle). Borax is a natural product, not toxic, but obviously, as with any laundry product, don't let your kids ingest it.

2- Some say also sprinkle a few drops of essential oil of peppermint.

3- Some say that ants also dislike the smell of cinnamon.
