  1. Beautiful, but over 35 years old.  That photo was taken from the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.

Oh, where's the guy that said cameras back then weren't good enough to take the "high quality" moon landing pictures?  LoL

  2. It is amazing.  The only thing more amazing to me are the pictures from the Hubble, where the field of view is so tiny, but it is filled with other galaxies.  You want to feel small, take a look at those.

  3. You want a cookie for posting a link?

    .

  4. I'm not certain what sort of response you are try to obtain.  It is a photo of the Earth taken from space.  It isn't the first and certainly won't be the last.  Am I missing something?  Or, does this photo and question belong in a religious category?

  5. earth. so what?

i get my own pictures of earth from weather satellites. they're really cool.

  6. It's the most AMAZING thing I've EVER SEEN!!

    (speaking sarcastically)

  7. me thinks there's too many young ones to whom the mastery of space is 'old hat'.....there is still mystery, marvel and magic to these old eyeballs......

    ain't she beautiful, tho?.....

thanks for a stunner of a pic.... 'summer at the south pole'....

  8. too bad so many people think that they are "supposed to" make rude remarks. Get a life!

This photo DID amaze me when I was 12. It was on the front page of the St Louis Post.

  9. thats pretty amazing♥

too bad its like 35 years old.

    (:

  10. SO amazing :)

  11. No, it's Africa, Zanzibar, and the Arabian peninsula, as well as a couple of oceans.

  12. just earth? old..

  13. It is amazing because it was one of the first pictures showing a full face of Earth from far enough (pictures from low orbit satellites are too distorted), which was made available to so many people on this planet.

Old geezers like me still remember the impact it had on the human race.  By itself, it almost stopped all wars... for a short time (then we went back to business as usual).

  14. wow. that is a huge assss picture of earth. awesome. i want a boss poster of the planets and detailed to have in my apt. i love space and everything in it.

  15. Yeah, and it takes forever to load, too.
