I don't care much for table tennis since it's not much of a sport but still. It;s like no one notices that these women play a sport. Who cares what they wear. I cant believe some bone heads would write this article. You never see Women writing this about Men in the Olympics.

  1. People shouldn't care about what they wear, but watch for the love of the sport or the joy of just watching and cheering on your team or fav player. That idea is just awful and stupid. People today only seem to care about looks, instead of talent and what's on the inside. They should continue to wear comfortable outfits.

  2. HECK YES IT IS!!!

  3. that is insulting! they focus more on what we wear than how good we play table tennis!!! i am sooo....ANGRY!

  4. the same goes for the swimming mmhhh don't worry when mccain becomes presdeint he will allow them to battle naked

  5. yes

did you get my email? can you respond to them?

did you get the best answer o gave you?

  6. insulting? yes it is

  7. that's the most stupid article i have ever read in my entire life. what do they think of all people, a flock of maniacs?

whoever wrote that need to go to a mental hospital & consult a psychiatrist there coz obviously he's a serious twisted-minded jerk.

  8. Wow, why not just let the people decide for themselves and wear what they want as long as they decide on a designated uniform?

  9. not really because sports is a business. A sport need to stay in the public eye to make money and they do whatever it take to make that happen. For example in the universities revenue comes from football and men basketball. (about 40-50% of the total) Now that is huge so the universities must reinvest in the money makers. I enjoy a good women b-ball game but at the end of the WNBA isn't the NBA.

  10. That's mean.

There's lots of similar articles written about other sports- how the women have no b***s, or who is the hottest.

In my opinion, a woman should be remembered for the athletic achievements that brought her to the Olympics, and not how gorgeous she was.  This is a sporting event, not a beauty pagent.

I've yet to see something saying that men should go shirtless.

  11. Both sexes are just as guilty it just depends on the form of

entertainment, and that's what it is meant to be entertainment

s*x sells if nothing else, nobody is watching and it's the same

in music and the bar scene, talk about sexisum i can tell you

from expeirence as a musician, there's where women corner

the market when it comes to noticing who's playing the music

more than the music itself. It's all about the money, you think

people understand jazz, or classical music, and yet there the

first to b***h about how music on the radio these days suck . .  .

The people i feel sorry for are the ones who throw there life away on

something they think the public will appreciate only to find the public

is completely oblivious to what goes on, the work it takes and the

sacrifice merely to become a trained seal or dancing bear in human

form for the promise of being thrown a hand full of fish or bucket of

honey, from audiances who could care less . . .

Look on the bright side, maybey it's better it's not for every one,

if you see something in it then consider your self one of the lucky

few and enjoy it for what it realy is, an art form that's stilll alive

and well, best way to show your support for such dedication for

people who don't even realize or if they do, couldn't care less they

are being used as pawns in a game of life's illusions, merely to

entertain, the already confused masses . . .

  12. That's pretty messed up.

  13. The guy that wrote this is a total pig. They should be able to wear what they want and be left alone about it. Woman don't need to show off their bodies to get attention. GRRRRRRR....... this really frustrates me. What idiots, more seductive clothes what a load of dung. =(

  14. That´s disgusting and pathetic. What kind of people are we becoming that we can´t just enjoy a sport for the pure fact that someone has worked their **** off to getting at the level they´re at and admire their skill and discipline?

  15. Yes and it's sexist too. By Simon Rabinovitch

BEIJING (Reuters) - Table tennis is desperate to attract more viewers and some in the sport believe a simple enough solution exists: get the women to wear skirts and shirts with "curves".

Half-empty stands for women's games at the Olympics in China, the country most obsessed with table tennis, reinforce concerns that the sport needs a make-over to shed its fusty image.

Women players mostly wear baggy shorts and shirts unlike their tennis counterparts who dress for comfort as well as style.

"We are trying to push the players to use skirts and also nicer shirts, not the shirts that are made for men, but ones with more curves," International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) vice president Claude Bergeret said.

One player, Japan's Naomi Yotsumoto, has taken matters into her own hands. At the Japanese national championships last year, she played in a daring ensemble of her own design: knee socks, a pleated mini-skirt and a shirt that left one shoulder bare.

  16. On one hand, I agree with you.

On the other hand, this is a spectator sport and more men will watch if they dress more provocatively.

    More viewers, more money.

    More money, more players.

    More players, better competition.

Sports are a business, too - you do what you have to do.

  17. umm no..this really isnt insulting. The article clearly says that spectators are not interested, and it does not say this is due to the clothing it just says changing the clothing may interest mroe spectators, both men and women.

Eg. I much prefer to watch mens hockey and football to womens football or hockey. This has nothing to do with clothing, its just not as good. Table tennis much like tennis needs to have another flair to it to make it watchable. As you will see players such as maria sharapova and venus williams model for designers and also are sponsered by different labels which makes the sport more approachable for women and also more bareable for men.

Therefore this article is not insulting...you're just reading too much into it.

  18. wow that's really absurd!!!  That's chauvinistic men for you!!!
