Isn't this ridiculous? I can't get my license unless.....?

Question

I was born in Boston years ago, not telling my age. I was married twice before and divorced twice. I am on my 3rd marriage which is wonderful for 20 years, he is my first love and last I hope. I cannot get my license without all 3 marriage licenses and two divorce decrees. Now doesn't this make sense all I should need is my 2 divorce decrees and current marriage license? We moved out of state, in to another. I tried to obtain this and I need to call Boston to get my 2 marriage license. I said "I have my 2 divorce decrees, why would I need the marriage license? Because I divorced him? Duh, doesn't that make sense, but these idiots working for the Government say no, then she told me I couldn't vote, p**s me off, I am a born US citizen, I pity my grand kids. All I should need is 2 divorce decrees and my current marriage license right? I can vote by the way, she had that wrong. Thanks all

What exactly is the DMV in your state requiring of you? The best thing is to go to the DMV and speak with a supervisor.

In some government is demanding all that stuff for a drivers license, it is probably because they are unsure of your identity.  In recent years, with terrorism, etc, there are new rules for issueing drivers licenses as a form of identification.  If you have changed you name each time you married, the probably want a full history of names until they trace you current name to the name that matches your social security number, without any breaks.  The DMV doesn't care if you are married or not.  They want to know who you are.

  I have been getting drivers licenses for over 65 years, and have yet to be asked for any such thing as marriage license or marriage status.

  Sounds like you might be offering too much information where it's not needed or wanted.

Proof of citizenship, birth certificate and proof of residency should be all that's needed, in any state.
