  1. If not for that, Bruno, this world would be one totalitarian communist regime.

  2. Our own people are suffering... our military men and women aren't paid enough to put their lives at risk while their families have to stay home and wonder and worry.

It doesn't matter who wins the next election either... egos are on the rise and compassion is becoming extinct.  I wish people would focus more on raising their children to be GOOD PEOPLE rather than only obtaining high status among the worker's feild.  I have more respect for the 40 year old drop out who works long days sweating somewhere to provide for his family than the stuck up a*****e sitting in some office with multiple college degrees making the decisions on how we should and shouldn't live.

  3. Yes, but more important is that the US Dollar isn't backed up by gold, in fact the Federal Reserve , is not federal and has no reserves.

The US Military is all that is holding the $$$ from crashing down to "0" which is what it really worth.

If you put a blanket over the entire US forces around the world and hide them the dollar will fall like a rock, since the countries like China , Japan etc. who are buying the US gov. bonds will stop doing so.

    It's a fact.

    It's a tragedy.

    It's Horror...........horror.

    Regards.

Edit : Many countries like Iran now are selling their oil in their own (Bourse sp?) or stock market, are not accepting the US

Dollar any more,  another reason for it's  crash in the last few years.

Posted link shows how the US see this as a threat to it's economy.

    Enjoy.

  4. Yes it's like the nation's in a perpetual state of having just smoked too much weed

  5. Uh... yeah...

More than half our budget every year spent on the military. (And that doesn't include Iraq.)

    What's going on there?

  6. Boggles the mind, doesn't it? I don't see it as evidence of paranoia, it's evidence of mind numbing corruption. We are encouraged to be paranoid so that we don't question these expenditures. Heck, some of the answers here just parroted the propaganda used to justify endless military spending. A shame from so many perspectives, military spending is the most wasteful spending there is and it isn't buying us security.

  7. On the part of ordinary conservatives who supports that without question yes. Those who advocate and execute it though are in it because it fills their pockets.  Their corrupt legalized war profiteering is not the result of a mental condition.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT I agree, it's called denial and very hard to overcome. Most of these people are not immoral, they simply prefer beautiful lies over cold grim reality. It's a defense mechanism.

"There are several defining characteristics that identify the possibility that a patient may be in denial. Some examples include pretending something does not exist when in reality it does. Being willing to admit there is a problem, but unwilling to see the severity of it. Seeing the problem as being caused by something or someone else. The behavior is not denied, but its cause is someone else's responsibility. Offering excuses, alibis, justifications, and other explanations for behavior. Dealing with the problem on a general level; avoiding personal and emotional awareness of the situations or conditions. Changing the subject to avoid threatening topics. Becoming angry and irritable when reference is made to the condition. These defining characteristics help to avoid the issue at hand (Whitfield, 1994)"

  8. The US government has pissed off a lot of people over the years, including their own.

    They should be paranoid.

  9. Sure, why not. I have gas.

  10. It's not significant evidence of anything if you fail to disclose the source.  Aside from that, it's not evidence of anything except preparedness to protect ourselves, which is sometimes necessary given the precariousness of the times.

Bruno:  I responded to this generically, because you didn't provide any specifics.   I don't advocate either a totalitarian state or a communist one; both are equally repressive.  I did not advocate the Iraq War, either.  I just wanted to make that clear (and I have always been a critic of Bush).  However,  the US does have enemies that it needs to protect itself against.  To do any less is to neglect to protect our citizens.  It is indisputable that there are people who want nothing more than our destruction.  To neglect to accept this is naive.

As far as your accusation that I don't allow replies to my question, YOU are the one who asked the question.  I didn't ask a question.   Get your wires straight.

  11. Scary isn't it, but I guess as long as you imagine WMD'S and countries building nuclear weapons instead of MAYBE building power plants just like we have..it always leaves you looking behind you over your shoulder.

I guess in that case you would have to build the biggest army and have all the weapons you can stockpile!

  12. Sad but true. Paranoid and possibly got an Earth Domination Complex going.

  13. Cause our dollar is in the tank.

  14. lol

I suppose so.  I guess we need to be ready just in case they all band together and decide to invade us.

But actually, it's so we can throw our weight all around the world. It's not all really for strictly defensive purposes, is it? Maintaining hegemony is expensive.

  15. i find that hard to believe.

  16. Not sure how true that headline is but all I can say is that the US has the largest military in the world, and being a superpower it's not too surprising that we'd spend so much on our own military...

  17. I disagree.  I think it is a significant evidence of corruption.  No where near that amount goes toward military needs.  Much of it is funneled elsewhere.

  18. well, to make this short: we are very ready for WWIII. and it really is a shame...
