Isn't this stupid about school?

In Junior High, 7th grade Social Studies, we HAVE to have a book cover on our social studies book, or our classroom participation will be lowered. Is that stupid?

But it's not that stupid, they just want to keep the books in shape for next year's class.

its to protect your book from getting damaged so you dont have to pay $100 for a book

Kind of because of the whole grade thing but the reason you have to have book covers is so then the covers of the book don't get all beat up and they stay in better shape longer.

NO THIS IS NOT STUPID!! IF YOU DONT HAVE A BOOK COVER ON YOUR BOOK, YOUR BOOK COULD GET SCRATCHED UP AND YOU WOULD END UP PAYING FOR THE DAMAGES!!!

Umm..

That's not stupid.

Most classes make you do that.

And all classes at my middle&high school make you cover them.

It protects them so they can use them other years.. The books cost alot of money you know.

[Usually about $60-$75 per book. And if you damage it, you have to pay for it.]

Oh my, you should listen to my school rules, wanna hear some?

1. socks must be 2 inches above the ankle, no ankle socks

2. cannot wear bright colored shoes

3. boys cannot have their hair to their eye-brows, to their ears, or to the back of their shirt collar

4. BOOK COVERS ALWAYS!

5. girl's skirts have to be to the knee

(we have uniforms)

Uggh, yours actually sounds pretty good to me, compared to my school's absurd rules!!

Yeah, me too. At my school it's a whole school rule. Like in every grade and in every class. VERY stupid. But there is worse things, and I guess it helps keep the books nice...

Yep, that's what I had to do for my freshmen year of HS...i never did so...my participation grade went down. The only reason my teacher made us do it was cause the books were really old. just get your book cover...easy enough.

no, they want to keep the books in good condition. in 6th grade latin we had to bring our book every day. if we didn't we got a zero, if we had it but it wasn't covered then we got a 70 if we had it and it was covered then we got a 100. sucked for me because i didnt have a bookcover so my grade for like the whole year was a c

I had to  do that all through elementary school. Its there property. They are just trying to take care of it. just be glad you don't have to buy books.

I guess it is becuse they dont want the books harmed our school if you don;t have a cover the first day you get  a warning than the second day you get 2pts taken off than the third day you get luch detention and 2pts taken off and everyday after that you get lunch and 2pts taken off

and every cople weeks they check if you have it without warning

Books are expensive and the school wants them to last as long as possible, until they are outdated.

Wait until you get to college and you pay out of your butt for textbooks, and you'll understand why your school wanted to keep the books in good shape.

A book cover isn't a big deal at all. Put it on your book and get your participation grade.
