why does yahoo answers minus five points from you if your asking a question?! i know this site is called yahoo answers, but you won't get any answers unless you have questions...so the questions do play a big role.....so why don't they just give you some points instead of subtracting them?

Because that's how they set this web site up. Pick a best answer for your question, get three points back.

No it isn't. It encourages people to ask interesting questions. You ask an interesting question, then you get five points for each star you are given. Then you three points for choosing best answer. So really the system is good for people who participate in the right way, and not by asking stupid questions or giving bad answers. I'll give you a star if you want five points back, and from now on start asking interesting questions.
