  1. Yes, it is historic. But it is also sad that he has reached this level and is still defined by the color of his skin.

  2. I hope that everyone, no matter his/her political belief, recognizes that this is a great moment for our nation: the struggle for civil rights that began with the civil war has reached another level of fruition.

Even if you'd prefer another candidate get elected, all Americans should be proud today.

  3. Yes.  And as usual this old white guy was once again 25 years ahead of his time.  I voted for Jesse Jackson (back when he was young and not nearly as bitter) 25 odd years ago.

  4. Ribs for EVERYBODY!!

  5. It is a remarkable day. It's a shame they picked such an Marxist idiot to be the first. Now when the American people reject him, the leftists will scream racism instead of idiotism.

  6. I held it and I held it. My throat consticted, I swallowed hard, my nose started to burn, my breathing became deeper.  I could no longer hold the tears that had started to well in my eyes.  When I blinked, I had to leave the room.

I have never been so proud of my country!

  7. yeah maybe some day a black man will be president... we'll see whos around in 2012

  8. Yes. I was going to say yesterday was more remarkable, but today was great, too. As a Conservative, I have never laughed at the Liberals so hard in my life! Bill, and Hillary were so comical!

John McCain's ads made me laugh, too.

As to Barack making history, I find it a shame a better man, didn't take his place, or a black woman, like Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, or even back in the 60's, Martin Luther King Jr.

Obama hasn't got a clue to Liberty, or love of America, and is pure trash to me.

  9. Its notable, but it will only be one paragraph in future American History books if he doesn't win the election in November.  Nobody remembers the losers.

  10. no one cares

  11. he's half white

in 1984 when democrats made history with their ticket they won one state

  12. Wasn't that realistically a bit ago?

  13. And the first to lose an election in November....

  14. We knew that it would either be a half black man or a woman (the first of either) months ago.  I'm no Hillary supporter, but democrats should be ashamed of themselves for trying to minimize her accomplishments; especially since they claim to support equality amongst the sexes.

  15. Yes it is. I don't care what anyone says. America really has come a long way.

  16. Well here in the US nominations have not yet been held. But I will assume in less than 24 hours the nomination process will be complete.

What I find more remarkable is that the democrats are going to nominate the first Communist to represent their party as President. And Possibly they are nominating a person with dual citizenship as he is a Kenyan as well.

I think the word "black" is misleading considering he is black/white. And I'm quiet sure he isn't the first multiracial president. I know I've got a couple in me.

I fear the direction this country is heading accepting a racist, Communist/Marxist, multi-nationalist as a possible President of this great Republic.

Instead of embracing or individuality and personal responsibility, we seem to be running towards the sickle. Let's ask the "mother country" how much we are aloud to earn. Let us ask the "mother country" who is our doctor.

If you all aren't careful Michelle may be Proud.

I was just wondering who the people were that were prevented by the color of their skin from being president in the last 70 years.

  17. You won't be so thrilled when you see the size of loss he is going to take.

  18. I don't care if he is African American, I care that he will be a good President.

  19. More ironic than historic if you know history of the Democratic Party.

  20. remarkable day, why? did the red sox win?

  21. i am so excited! yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. I agree.  I have to say I was holding my breath thinking Hillary would say or do something.

Regardless, it is a day that will be in the history books forever.  Think of that before closing your eyes tonight to go to sleep.  You're watching history being made.

  23. I think that fact is overshadowed by the fact that he offers alot of hope and optimism that this country desperately needs.

  24. A country founded by slave-owners, and a man of African-American blood ascending nearly to the highest office in the land?

Truly, truly magnificent. We await your arrival, President Barack Obama!

  25. It should have been, but it isn't.If he shared my love of my country,if he cared one wit for anything American then yes it would have been.History will show that we stood at a crossroads at a very important time in the history of this country and were sold down the river on a tide of color because people thought that was the most important issue when the whole world was crying out with need, our own country included and we did nothing. This election is a joke of the worst kind.Sorry.

  26. Yes it is.

Sorry folks.........you can't get away with ignoring that he IS the first black american to win this position.

The color of his skin has kept others from being president. That is a fact.

Race shouldn't be an issue but it has been up to this point.

  27. yep, Im ready for a change

  28. Race should not be an issue in today's America

  29. I will admit that it is a remarkable day in American history. Obama will also soon be the first black presidential nominee to lose a presidential election.

  30. if he had won fair and square, with stellar qualifications, you bet.

He and the 'History Makers' stole the nomination from Hillary,

he is having a coronation and I hope the Democrats

have a plan B for when

he screws up and has to be bailed out!

  31. I am absolutely EXCITED to see history made today. Nice to live in such an exciting time in America. I am soooo proud of America.

Now, having said that I really would have liked to see Condy Rice win the nomination so that we could have seen a woman and a black win the nomination. OOOOH too cool we would have had someone QUALIFIED TOO!
