Isn’t He Clever part of the competent lineup for the Grade 2, $200,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita on 4th February 
J. Kirk Robison and Judy Robison owned three-year-old gelding of Smarty Jones out of Sharp Minister, Isn’t He Clever is a Kentucky bred, who is headed for the Grade 2, $200,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita on 4th February
which has also attracted Rousing Sermon and Liaison.
The most promising performance by, Isn’t He Clever, that led the connections to seriously consider one of the three graded stakes at Santa Anita was the victory in  the $104,200 Allison Futurity on 30th December, 2011 at Sunland
Park, that also by a margin of 11 ¾ lengths, raced over six and a half furlongs. Flame Broiled was the runner up while Alsvid finished third behind the winner.
“He beat that bunch [in New Mexico] so easily, they are willing to try him out,” said Caesar Dominguez, Henry’s brother.
Isn’t He Clever started off with his career at Zia Park, New Mexico, where he got through his special weight maiden race on 3rd September, 2011 at first asking, and then won an allowance race on 24th October
which was raced over five and a half furlongs that he covered in a minute and 3.35 seconds. Flame Broiled was third in line behind the winner.
On 11th November 2011, Isn’t He Clever qualified as a runner up in the Clever Trevor Stakes at Remington Park, raced over seven furlongs. The race was won by, Officer Prado, and finishing third was Mr. Bluegrass Music.
On 4th February, Isn’t He Clever will be accompanied by Corey Nakatani, who will be riding him for the first time as the previous allowance and stakes victory was when Isn’t He Clever was paired up with A Medellin.
“Whether he can go that far, we don’t know,” Caesar Dominguez said.
Besides Rousing Sermon and Liaison, the other three contestants from the Grade 1, Cashcall Futurity are Sky Kingdom, Groovin’ Solo and Empire Way. The lineup of the eight gets completed with I’ll Have Another and Chips All In.
The trainer is not absolutely confident about the win in regard with the distance that has to be covered, however, he is depending on the ability of the gelding that till yet has scored three out of the four starts.
