  1. No it is not.

  2. No. NATO is an organisation which deals with defence issues for wide group of nationals - including for example US, Canada as well as European countries. Whereas the EU is a union of 27 European nations - i.e. not including for example US, Canada which began as a trading group of 6 nations but now has far wider aims including defence.

For the benefit of one answerer the EU does not have a Constitution and it is not a Federal structure like the US - as you suggest.

  3. NATO is a military organisation that includes a number of countries not in the EU which is essentially an economic bloc. For instance the US and Turkey are in NATO but not the EU.

  4. No - different memberships, different ways of working.

Contrary to an earlier answer, NATO does have a constitution: a constitution is merely an agreed way of working and distribution of power. NATO's constitution does not limit it's membership to European countries, and works on the principle of unanimity in decision-making, to give to clear differences between the EU and NATO.

  5. NATO is the military arm of the EU which is an economic organization.

  6. No, NATO does not have a constitution.  The EU at it's core is very much like the Federal Government of the United States and each member country is as the States of the United States once where before the federalists basically one out and neutered the authority of the states.

  7. Not at all.

NATO - the North Atlantic defence organisation was set up in the  Cold War days of the 50's and 60's as a defence body against any aggression by the Warsaw Pact countries (i.e. Eastern Europe under the control of Russia). NATO also includes North America - the USA and Canada. The EU (European Union)  does not include  North America but now does include, or is in the process of negotiating the inclusion of former Eastern European Warsaw Pact nations such as the Ukraine,  the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and others.

  8. NATO is a military coalition that includes the US.

The EU is an economic group of nations within EUROPE, and therefore does not include the US.

  9. No. NATO includes countries like Canada and the USA. NATO is entirely separate from the EU and is not solely a European military organisation.
