  1. no it is not that clever thing to do~

  2. no

  3. Since the men wore traditional dresses, I think it was prudent for the women to wear traditional dresses as well. But I will disagree that they Insulted Indian Tradition. Chauvinistically lopsided view. News could only last if there is some controversy, so is politics.

  4. Before talking about the Olympic parade..how are Indian actress behaving..Are they wearing saris??How vulgarest they are?they are acting for their own good will..But parade was not that badly dressed.channels have many such stupid things to tell.

  5. I read in the newspapers today that the Indian women were not in sync with each other's costumes and that is not good.

When we are representing our country to the world, there definitely needs to be some sort of sync which shows our Unity in Diversity.

But, now what ever happened has happened. Lets hope, our contingent performs well and brings glory to our country!!!

I felt proud though looking at the images of Indians and the Indian tri-colors in the Bird's Nest!!!

  6. I don't think the sari is appropriate for the sporting field, but I think for the opening ceremony they might have worn it.

  7. brijesh  i hope you saw the entire olympic parade. each country had its athletes(both men & women) coming in uniform( be it traditional or formal). so, i think that it was really abusive on the part of ind women not coming in uniform. if not a saree, they should have atleast come in the same type of dress either same pattern or colour. even the greatest sporting nations were in uniform. this shows their unity. so what is the problem with the ind women?

  8. The sportspersons of all other countries wore their traditional constumes in that parade to represent oneness. Here in India we are not one as anybody can see it. All over India there are different constumes worn in different states, different religions and different castes. There will be a riot if some sportsperson is forced to wear a costume different from his/her traditional one. Well we are all not one but different representing different states, ideas and everything.

  9. Usually sportspeople representing country are also brand ambassadors. It is deemed appropriate that they should wear national dresses so that other come to know something about the country of sports people.

What was absolutely ridiculous was while gents in Indian contingent were tradionally dressed and all were wearing same dress, ladies wore whatever they llike. Sania looked as she has just come out of practice match wearing the jacket and trouser. I dont thin it is befitting someone who is represnting India at that level.

  10. The issue was created as all other nations also represented there tradition by wearing traditional clothes & even male participants of India wore traditional clothes.

Then why not Indian female should represent Indias rich culture by wearing sarees ?

    (About Indian Actereses-

When Shilpa Shetty won in show of US she wore saree

Bipasha represented India for 7 wonder contest she wore saree)

I think that is not an issue who should ware saree when but when we r representing our nation as well as our culture traditional clothes should b there.

  11. Wrong section

  12. nope, they are right ! you are representing a nation, so its always the conevntional traditions and dresses represented in the parades!

you would have gone the other way, if media would have praised them , its people who are ambivalent !

  13. No, it is just an opinion.  Everybody is allowed an opinion, even though ppl don't agree ...

  14. This is the section of cricket

    not Indian traditions

  15. Channels are right !

  16. well it is abusive for our country men not to follow any dress code by our indian women athlete. but it is the responsibility of the indian olympic association who have given the dresses to the male athletes n  not to the females. still it is bad.

  17. I agree with TV Channels - Foreigners are supporting our indian saree culture - then why don't our Indian women - They must compulsorily wear Sarees and must show their gratitude towards our nations culture.

  18. I think they could have worn sarees. Many of the nations looked so colourful. There wasn't even need of the same saree, they could have worn the costumes of their respective states as well. My point is that the men and the women were totally out-of-sync in appearances, men all traditional, women all casuals and sports wear. If they couldn't decide on the same costume, they could have at least all agreed to dress traditional. What was the team manager doing? He should have sorted this out. And he/she should also asked the team to walk in lines or formations, they looked such a clumsy knot. But yeah, what has happened has happened, and the focus should now be on the events, not the clothes. TV channels make mountains out of little molehills  that are none of their businesses.

(And incidentally, I hate men who preach that Indian women should "compulsorily wear sarees." Women can decide what they want to wear on their own, thank you very much.)
