Isn`t it time that all bicycles were "traceable"?

by having a visible number plate that is registered to the rider.

I am not bothered about them paying tax, but I do think they should be traceable to other road users and the police, and they should have some form of insurance.

A lot of cyclists are downright dangerous in towns and cities and are a major source of "road rage" out on the open road when these cycling clubs, riding two abreast hold up traffic for miles, and take great delight in doing so.

They have been getting away with using "our" roads with no regard to others for too long!

  1. No.

  2. i think they should. i live in a town where bicyclist ride right beside your car and you don't know it! they run lights, and don't care that you have 2000+lbs vehicle to their 20.

it doesn't bother me using the road, because they have bike roads here, but they don't care where they go or cut you off. and if you hit them, its your fault!!!!

yes to haveing plates!!! call them b*tches in!!!!

  3. I totally agree! I think that Quads and Trikes should have the same Identification so they can be reported for dangerous activity.

I have a licence to drive, and therefore if I speed or break any other traffic rules if riding a bicycle, etc. I can get a ticket, possibly losing demerit points BECAUSE I HAVE A DRIVER'S LICENCE, but those who don't have a licence would get their wrist slapped and a bit of a tongue lashing..

Yes, I think a basic Rules of the Road written test and some form of  easily visitble Identification and possibly an insurance charge should be applied to anyone riding a bicycle. The young children are usually taught bicycle safety at school, and we really have to watch out for them because they aren't careless, they are carefree.

  4. very interesting

  5. a very good question and good valid arguments raised. I don't use the terms 'truck drivers/car drivers/ motorcyclists/ cyclists' etc,  i simply have experienced enough on the roads to realise its not what means of transport a person uses to get from A to B , but the idiot him/her self.

face it,  you get idiots behind the wheel of a car, on a motorcycle, in a truck and I've yet to experience a stupid cyclist but im sure theres plenty out there.

Despite the physical dimensions of a bicycle of what ever sort, im sure dangerous cycling causing hazardous outcomes on the road for a car driver implies we MUST have a way to punish stupid idiotic people on cycles.  right ? i hope the majority of you agree with me on this.

I personaly can't stand motorcyclists, they think theyre street savy and really smart and act SO ignorantly on their kawasakis, hondas etc.

Lately i've had some sour experiences with bus drivers though.

  6. would you like them to have a license as well?

  7. "our" roads? Isn't the road for all taxpayers?

    You are nuts.

  8. Omg.. a hit a run bicyclist?

  9. ther is

  10. Of course it is the cyclists that are causing ALL of the traffic problems you encounter on the roads. It has nothing to do with the thousands of other cars and incompetent drivers on the road, does it?

Most bad cyclists are only dangerous to themselves. Bad drivers, however, are a danger to almost everyone. That is why they need a license.

Bicycles are vehicles under the law and cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as every other driver. Cyclists (like me) do pay the taxes that build and maintain the roads and unlike cars and trucks, do very little damage to the road from wear and tear. So they aren't your roads, jackass. They are OUR roads.

As for riding two abreast, it is perfectly legal in most states to do so.

I do agree, however, that cyclists that break the law should be ticketed and punished accordingly.

  11. I understand your frustration. However, we have to share the roads with them but it seems that they have no intent on sharing the roads with us. They being general. Not all bicyclists are like this. But I did have to outrace one. It was a narrow road and I did not want to ride behind him or beside him. I thought it would be best if I passed him. He didn't like that and that's when he speeded up. I was so annoyed. I didn't want there to be an accident. He started driving in the middle of the road instead of off to the side. I don't know what his problem was or if other drivers had problems with him.

If more people start riding then it might possibly make sense to have tags. But I don't know. It seems more like an excuse to have to pay another fee to the state or town and would be a disincentive for more people to ride instead of drive.

Something needs to be done. I think they can be cited?

  12. Interesting

  13. I agree with you 100 percent and the way I see it is the same, if they use the roads then they should be taxed, have a license, have insurance and ride by the rules of the road.

I know everyone will hate this but it is the truth......

  14. bikes are the future and there will probably be some government initiative that makes us all ride them. Bikes are extremely environmentally friendly and good exercise so soon you wont have to worry about mowing cyclists down because you'll be one of them
