  1. He'll soon be cashing in by advertising all kinds of crappy food

  2. Phelps is living proof of what most athletes have known for a while.  If you're getting proper exercise, it doesn't really matter what you're eating.  Sure he eats 12,000 calories in a day but with how much he swims and is active he's probably burning 10,000 calories a day easy which would put him at a 2,000 calorie a day lifestyle (what most doctors recommend).  The problem you see today is most people want their cake (figuratively speaking) and eat it too.  People want a magic pill that will let them lose weight and stay slim and not have to exercise, I'm not saying what he's eating is the greatest and as he stops swimming he will have to change some of his eating habits, but your body needs fat and carbs to burn when you're exercising and competing, if you exercise after you eat (within reasonable time) your body uses the fat and carbs for the fuel needed to do what you are asking of it.  What I'm saying is the food doesn't have as much with putting on weight as the inability of most people to do 30-45 minutes of exercise a day

  3. He works out so much and does so amazing in competition I don't think healthy eating matters as much to him as it does to the average person.

  4. don't believe eveeything you hear or read...even if he said it, it may be out of context, or he may be pulling your leg or he may be spreading disinformation.

if he is eating like this, it is unusual - most althletes are obsessive about thier intake and balance. after that kind of breakfast, how could he possibly do a 21 second 50?

  5. Yes, I think Micheal Phelps is very unhealthy! He consumes about 8,000 calories a day!!! For right now its fine I guess, but what about when he retires and doesnt swim anymore! He will be in one of those Obesity Clinics!!!

  7. No, he's underweight according to his height so he has to consume more calories so he doesn't loose weight. Especially because of his training schedule. I think he's healthy and everyone has different body types.

  8. one you are fu*king stupid have him eat a steak dinner carbs are the #1 source of energy your body uses thats why you need the most of them. its not like he is in boxing 2 where he needs to be a certain weight

  9. Athletes of his caliber eat a HUGE amount of carbohydrates.  Have you ever heard the term "carb loading"?

Carbohydrates should total around 65% of total energy intake for both male and female athletes.

Recommended intake for the all athletes: 3.5 to 5 g/lb body weight

For 1 hour of training per day - 3 to 3.5 g/lb body weight

For 2 hours of training per day - 4 g/lb body weight

For 3 hours of training per day - 5 g/lb body weight

For 4 or more hours of training per day - 6 to 6.5 g/lb body weight
