Isobar forecasted for Kempton win
A year ago there were people who thought that Luca Cumani decision to take on Kieren Fallon as stable jockey might be a risk.
Twelve months later the pair have a 24% strike-rate since January, with the former champion jockey riding at the peak of his powers in recent weeks, and can add to that at Kempton Park.
Isobar has made steady progress through the season and can win the Bet Asian Handicaps - Betdaq Handicap. The colt took time to find his level but that gave him a reasonable handicap mark to start with, which he made the most of for an easy win at Bath three weeks ago.
He has gone up 8lb for that performance but that may still leave room for improvement.
Fimas is another Cumani horse who has failed to win in three runs in maiden company but that puts him into his first attempt at handicaps on what might be a winning mark for the Bet Champions League Football - Betdaq Nursery.
It may be worth noting that Cumani chose to drop the colt to five furlongs for his last run at Wolverhampton, following two runs over six furlongs. He is now moved to seven furlongs which may be more in keeping with his dam’s pedigree, which has more of an emphasis on stamina than speed.
Sir Mark Prescott does not send many runners to Bath, but 33% strike-rate suggests that they are worth following. Ultimate Quest, who runs in Lechlade Garden Centre Handicap, is yet another of the slow-maturing stayers with which the trainer excels.
He ran too free on his penultimate start, at Kempton, when he ran in blinkers and is suited by stamina tests.
A 4lb rise in the weights may not be enough to halt his progress.
