Question:

Isolated analog output wiring?

I have a flowmeter with an analog output board. The output connector has 3 terminals: RTN, 4-20mA, and 0-10V. How do I connect wires to these terminals to get 4-20mA signals? Do I need to connect a resistor across RTN and 4-20mA terminals?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Maybe someone will come up with a better answer, but I'll start things off.  The RTN is the common or return line, like a ground or neutral.  The 4-20 mA should be the analog signal output.  The 0-10V should be power for the adapter.  Supply it with 10 volts for power unless it has a built in power supply.   If it doesn't have power built in, this should be the right connections.
