Isp Internet Question?

Ok. my dad has isp internet(dial up about 40 mbps) and its been working fine for about two years. A couple of weeks ago my dad came to my house and installed isp internet( on his account). im not sure if this is illeagle and will mess up your service but every time i try to go on the internet at his house it takes like two times to get on the internet and the sounds that the computer makes(sounds like dailing phone numbers) repets itsself a couple of time and if i endgetting on the internet it is connected on and off. Whats going on?

You did not say who your internet service provider is.  The reason it takes so long to get on the internet is because it is dialing and trying to get a connection.  You may want to talk to your father and get him to get high speed DSL for a local internet provider.  It does not sound like it is illegal in what he is doing.

Sounds like he has a dial up connection, which would explain the dialing a number sound. The connection is probably lost due to a loose cable possibly? either to the modem or to the computer.As far as it is taking 2 times to connect a dial up service uses the home telephone line to accesss the internet, so someone make be trying to use the phone at the same time that you are connecting to the service, therefore knocking your connection off.
