Israel to join the European Union?

For a start Turkey is not a member of the EU. Israel is not even in Europe. Israel is part of the middle east. In order to join the EU Israel wouldn't even qualified to be a member.

The Copenhagen criteria are the rules that define whether a country is eligible to join the European Union.

P.S Turkey 3% of its territory lies in geographic Europe

King you didn't get the point Israel is not in Europe. Get a map and look for yourself. Also I never said Cyprus wasn't in the EU. Romania met the EU criteria to join the EU.

Reason the EU wouldn't let Israel join the EU:

(1) If Israel was to become a member state then the EU would be dragged into the conflict in the Middle East.

Some guy in Israel called Lieberman is calling for Israel to join the EU.

Funny that King there are more arabs than Jews in Israel.

Would be good but the israelis would have to get their act together first from a human rights perspective. Similar situation to Turkey.

As an EU citizen I would sooner have Israel a member than Turkey, though I have serious concerns about Israeli politics. (Their values are more a part of the European cultural tradition, but maybe I should leave it at that...)

it is more like Europe than the other middle eastern countries( a liberal democracy with a thriving economy) but who know/ the Europeans do strange things so I would not be surprised if it happens in the future.

How about inviting Singapore & Philippines to join EU too ? Or should I give u World map to see where Israel is? Israel has nothing to do with Europe, otherwise Australia & New Zealand are more European than Israel can ever be.

I am not talking about distance, otherwise Morocco is even much nearer.

Did anyone take Geography? Israel is not in Europe! Israel is in Asia.
