  1. Joe and Shay are technically correct (despite someone with no clue thumbing them down). However, as someone who frequently takes public transport in Jerusalem, I have  encountered dogs over the years that are neither seeing eye dogs nor particularly small. (You may have to pay for a large dog's ride.) Twenty five years ago, one might occasionally notice a live chicken or two in a market basket, but this is unusual today.

  2. you'e allowed to bring into the bus small pets that can be carried on your lap. they have to be tied and wear a whatsit on their mouth (for dogs). for cats you better use one of those portable cages

usually you'd be required to buy a ticket for your pet.

seeing eye dogs etc are allowed in any case

most israelis that travel with their pets use private cars.

  3. On buses and trains only dogs that aid the blind.

    From the law:

A blind person shall not be denied access to any public place or any public facilities and shall not be denied the right to use public transportation because s/he is accompanied by a guide dog”
