Issue with a Phillips LX3500 home theater sys..?

Here's my dilemma:

Sometimes when I power the system on, I don't get any sound from the speakers. I made sure all the wires and cables are properly placed and secured, but... no sound.

Also checked and flipped through all the inputs/outputs options, and.... no sound. But I could hear in the speakers a low pop everytime I switched an input. So sound will come through them, but not from the tv, or a CD.

Here's the twist... after 10-15 mins of just leaving it on, theres a fairly loud pop and the system comes to life, and plays like normal.

Any ideas??
