My opinion on this is who cares if the fireworks are real or not! China still put up a great opening show to feed the people appetite so why even bother bi.tching about it, y'know? Anyways, what's your opinion on it?

  1. The bottom line is:

The fireworks were not the most memorable or impressive part of the show! So, if they are computer graphics, then I don't care.

I would suggest that the Olympics not use computer graphics in the future to make the opening ceremonies look "cool", because the opening ceremony is VERY REAL, and cities should work to impress us with real talent and special affects rather than trying to turn the Olympics opening ceremony into movie or "cool graphics" video game. That's not Beijing's fault, though. That's the IOC. They should condemn efforts to visually enhance Olympics events with elements that were not there.

Basically, though, it'd be like adding fireworks at the end of a gold medal event. It looks cool, but the gold medal final was the part that was truly impressive and that people will talk about. That's exactly what those fireworks are: They looked cool, but people were truly impressed by the actual performances in the opening ceremony.

  2. totally agree. Although I have to say I LOVED the drums in the beginning but everything else was not all they chalked it up to be. Just my opinion.

  3. I heard that only the 29 gigantic feet were CG, the others were real, they were actually lit up at the stadium.

They did make a pre-record of the fireworks show for broadcasting, because the weather wasn't clear enough.

  4. You are right!

and you can find more information of Olympic in http://www.chinaassistor.com/

  5. I agree.  I thought the opening ceremony was spectacular. The computer graphics for the footstep effect in tv was actually quite impressive, even if it was not real, so it shouldn't be a negative, on the contrary I think it's amazing how they thought this one through.

  6. i agree with you. so what if it's fake? it's not as if it's hurting anybody...

by the way, they may have used fake fireworks because of safety reasons. there were a lot of people in the stadium and probably around the perimeter of the stadium.

if an accident happens, AHA, the west will slander china again. personally, i think it's rather smart of them.
