It's difficult to offer suggestions without knowing grade level or if you need this for college.

One thought, though, would be fires vs. people choosing to live in remote, fire-prone areas: How much added tax burden; higher insurance rates; federal loans, etc. does it cost the entire population? Santa Ana fires, especially, because they are a given in Southern CA.
