  1. You can take a combination of Metro and tram to Eminonu and then get the ferry across the bosphorus to Haydarpasa.

Take the metro from the airport to Zeytinburnu, change to the tram there (it's the same station), continue on the tram to Eminonu, a ferry will leave from there to Haydarpasa (it's the same ferry as goes to Kadikoy but they don't all stop at Haydarpasa - be careful which one you get on).

This would be the easiest and cheapest way.

It also involves a minimum amount of walking and carrying bags. It's very straightforward and a fraction of the cost of a taxi or even a Havas bus (which doesn't get you across the Bosphorus).

    Iyi Yolculuklar!!

It is certainly the route I'd choose (again).

  2. Don't take cabs, cause if they realise you are a tourist its possible you to have a istanbul trip. The best way is metro to eminonu, however its not a straight line, you gotta transfer to a different train. Then from eminonu, or karakoy (the next station) take a ship to kadikoy. Which is the easiest way to reach haydarpasa station. (its a big *** old building)

  3. Get on the light rail (aka light metro or Hafif metro) get off in Aksaray take tramvay from there to Eminönü, take the Kadıköy ferry to cross to the Asian side (Kadıköy's and Üsküdar's quays are different, close to each other but diffo) then before reaching the last dock, Kadıköy, get off in Haydarpaşa. There you are in the heart of it where Agatha Christie's most thrilling novel, the orient express begins (or that was where it ends?)

Now I'm not sure about getting off in Aksaray part but with a great possibility I'm right. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

  4. will you have luggage?,

I suggest going by taxi to the ferries on the European side(I don't know exactly which one is closest to the airport so you have to figure that out yourself),

than by ferry across the Bosphorus to Kadiköy(or Üsküdar)

and than by taxi from there again to Haydarpaşa station(or get off at Haydarpaşa from ferries if they drop you off

  5. from airport you can take a bus. called HAVAS . (but cab is the best way i think)  you can get off @ karakoy. than with ferryboat to Haydarpasa.

i am not sure if there is a metro line in airport ,i think there is not.

and  there is no subway going to haydarpasa  either

i just used to take taxi from airport to haydarpasa.
