  1. Snow globes are cool but I've actually never made one myself!  I know what you can use though.  Do you know that confetti string like stuff they put in easter baskets?  You could use any confetti.  They're is many shapes too and you could even make hearts, music notes, and more.  If y ou want the normal stuff go to your craft store today and they have white confetti.  Have a snow globe day...

    lol that saying was corny!

  2. You can make it out of a lot of things as long as those materials won't bleed their color into the water, or rust.

Check out this page of my site to see a load of suggestions for making "snow" (as well as snowglobes), and also thoughts about how fast it falls, etc.

P.S.  You may not want metallic glitter (the cheap stuff), but there are white plastic glitters that can work well, and also holographic "white" glitters that can look awesome too including some very fine ones that sort of twinkle when they fall.

  3. The best thing I've found to make "snow" in a globe is finely crushed egg shells.  Boil 2 or 3 eggs and peel the shells off.  Use tweezers to remove the skin that sticks to the insides of the shells and wash them. Put the cleaned egg shells into a small zip bag and crush them finely to form the snow.  Use it like you would glitter.

  4. use snow.

  5. It's just thin, white plastic bits. Shred up some thin plastic sheets of anything.

  6. If you don't want glitter how about using a cheese grater to grate bits of white plastic.  I think wax would float, but you could try that as well (or crayons - white).  I've only used the glitter as I've only done it one time with my daughter when she was younger and she likes sparkle. :)
