Vengsarkar, who is also a former chief selector, called Rohit a good player but feels all-rounder Yusuf Pathan always had an edge because of his match-turning character.
"Rohit Sharma is a good player. But Yusuf Pathan can turn a match upside down. He's an explosive player," said Vengsarkar.
Vengsarkar, member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning squad, spoke of the importance of spin bowlers, especially as the tournament is being played on the spin-friendly tracks of the subcontinent.
"Spinners can play a crucial role in the middle overs,” said Vengsarkar. “But the result of the match could hinge on how the bowlers perform in the last five overs."
