“It's a good wake-up call,” says San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt
The San Francisco Giants are currently facing some difficult times as their losing streak in the hands of Arizona Diamondbacks is continuing and making them more annoyed than ever before.
In the ongoing 2012 Major League Baseball regular series, the Giants lost game-3 with a 7-6 margin. After leading up-to six runs in virtually no time, the Giants lost giving away one extra run on Sunday.
However, the Giants main players’ especially senior pitcher Jeremy Affeldt gave his teammate an important morale booster statement that these recent defeats might have some kind of a lesson in it.
He added explaining, "It's a good wake-up call, I think it just shows this game's not easy, and you're facing a pretty good offensive team over there that's gotten better and better the last couple of years. But I think we have enough pitching to equalize that. We just didn't do it."
Team manager Bruce Bochy later also said, “They chipped away and we couldn’t add on, and in the one inning what could go wrong did go wrong, then came back and got word that he was on home plate that is when I lost it. Looking at it, he got it right. Buster was not on home plate.”
Affeldt here in his above statement is right for his team management and players to learn the tricks of the trade soon before it get too late.
Giants are coming with good Spring Training and knew they had a decent chance in this Major League Baseball season, but the way they lost to the Diamondbacks is certainly alarming for many.
Even their team manager Bruce Bochy is also certain that they now have to go with a bigger energy if they wanted to win consistently. Their next encounter is with Colorado Rockies, but before playing with the Rockies experienced franchise, they must prepare themselves with some strong self assurance.
In the meanwhile, some experts believe opposite than Bochy and saying that this is an initial stage of the competition and there is still plenty of time remaining for the Giants to get up and show their hidden fire power.
