I self-medicated for like five years with marijuana. I left my friends and my dad to live with my mom across the country 1) to see her and 2) to clean up my act. I've been clean off everything for this entire month, and it hasn't been easy. I leave back for home in two days, and I can't stop thinking about lighting up, it seems so good right now. I feel depressed, dull-minded, and anti-social. I know that staying off pot is vital to getting a job, passing my driving exam, and enrolling / succeeding in school. When I see my friends again, they're gonna be smoking and I have no idea what I'm gonna tell them. I don't know if I want to smoke with them or if I should resist, and if they'll even understand. I just feel so irritated with people all day, I need some kind of outlet. What should I do?

  1. i don't think it is depression, it is your yearn, yearning for that which you are denying yourself of. try to find something else to smoke, oops! i mean do.-blurey

  2. Do what you feel is in your best interest. Smoking pot is fun and all in small doses but you have to understand that when done so much day after day, like anything, it's going to have a negative effect.

If your friends can't understand that you don't want to smoke pot because you want to make your life better, then what is that really saying about them?

It's sad to admit sometimes that our friends may not fully understand us but unfortunately it's a fact of life, and a learning process. You need to take intiative and do what your heart tells you. You only get so many chances though, so choose wisely.

Eventually you'll learn to find something else to attach youself to, try and make it positive.

  3. Ok first, find new friends.

As hard as it sounds, I know that you know that in the long run, it'll make all the better difference.

It sounds like you have a plan set out for yourself, but this craving is kind of getting in the way.

Hanging out with your friends now brings that obstacle closer to you, you have to avoid it, and your friends, at all costs, if you're sure you're going to succeed.

Try finding an interesting hobby in your life, and people to share it with, whether it be a sport or activity.

It'll bring you out of depression and make you social and happy again

Once you're happy, you'll forget about your craving

    GOOD LUCKKKK (:

  4. Your best decision is to stay off pot and from people who smoke it. Trust me, smoking pot will not get you anywhere in life and it clouds your thinking. It makes you intellectually slower, it kills memory cells, and it makes you antisocial. I used to smoke everyday and fortunately I was able to quit. Quitting drugs depends on how much you value yourself and life. The only reason I quit was because I know I don't want to end up no where in life.
