  1. You need to be using mouthwash the whole time your piercing is healing.

Healing time is roughly 2-3 months.

    Good to know facts-

~Make sure the balls on your jewelry are either plastic or acrylic.

This will help minimize the damage done to teeth and gums.

~Make sure the jewelry is made out of either titanium or surgical stainless steel. You might need 24k gold if you're allergic to nickel.

~It's also a good idea to not only use alcohol-free mouthwash to clean your piercing, but its also good to brush your teeth and tongue.

~You can also rinse your mouth with sea salt if you want to. It can help with irritation and can clean your mouth even more although it tastes repulsive.

  2. Takes most wounds at least a couple of weeks to heal up. When my son bit through his tongue, it took a full month before he was able to eat spicy, salty, or any strong flavored foods again. And he was a baby type person then so healed rapidly.

If you want an infection, go ahead and quit the mouthwash!! I don't know why anyone wants a post through their tongue, but it is your tongue. Just don't expect a tip if you wait on my table.

  3. You should really follow the guide lines given to you by your piercer. I don't know why the first post was such a hater!!!

*Continue with your cleaning regimen till you get your bar down sided then ask the piercer then if it's ok to stop the mouthwash.
