well, i hope there would be a team going on a suicide mission to destroy it, like that movie armaggeddon or deep impact. otherwise, if the asteroid is big enough, it might hit a chunk out of the earth and then be grabbed by the earth's gravitational field become a second moon.

There is not going to be an asteroid hitting earth on 2012.

Actuallr the asteroid is gonna hit on 2037 if it passes through a key hole that is 600 miles wide but the asteroid is gonna come close to the earth on 2029 the asteroid will or will not hit earth dependind on the earths gravity pull.

The asteriods name ia Apophis.

There is no such comet headed toward Earth. Ancient peoples lacked any kind of technology to see comets coming from 500-1000 years away.

2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation.
