It's going on a month since I had my baby, could this be a form of postpartum? ?

I have mood swings. I get irritable one minute and happy the next. Sometimes I cry or get teary eyed but that's mainly b/c my side of the family has never come up to see our baby once (as we have always had to bring him over there) and I often feel lonely, overwhelmed b/c it's me and the baby all the time, same horribly colored walls that we don't have the money to re-do and my hubby's work schedule is so crazy (he works at a store) and can't get out on time so always expecting him late to get home...I love my baby so very much but is this postpartum.

  1. It could be... sounds like you are depressed and the hormone surge from having the baby is making things worse.  Please talk to your OB about this at your check up or call them if you feel overwhelmed.  It's hard to do it all yourself.  Can you talk to your family about needing a little more interaction?  If not, is there a church or mom's group nearby that might give you a chance to get out of the house with the baby and get some time with other people?  Don't wait to get help, if you think you are having issues with post partum, please call your dr. right away.  Good luck!

  2. Probably, having a baby  esp your first, is a big shock to the system and most women wobble a bit in the early weeks - you are not alone. Obviously postnatal depression is something to look out for so seek some help from your health visitor or equivalent, they are so well trained in helping with this type of issue.

Dont forget your body is getting used to a big hormonal change and especially if you are breast feeding this will be the case even more so. Seek a bit of reassurance from your professional and enjoy the early days with your little one

    Good luck xx

  3. irritability is def a sign of postpartum. overwhelmed, and emotional is also. if this gets worse or you feel any sort of harm to yourself or your baby tell someone asap. alot of times this doesnt happen, but it would be best for yourself to have some emotional help, someone to talk to about how you feel etc. post partum is very common. it also has very different signs depending on each mother. i guess i would just talk to your OB and go from there.

  4. OH yea lol
