It's night time and I wanted to leave a sheet on my cockatiel's cage to tell her to go to sleep. But, my mom is scared it might get too hot. Should I do this or just take it off?

  1. How hot is it? A sheet doesn't add too much temperature, if anything without one over night it will get too cold. If you're worried, leave the back side of the cage open, but cover the rest.

I'd do that if it is over 85. Anything less, I would think it should be fine.

  2. It depends on the type of bird you have, But as long as its nothing over 90º it should be alright.

  3. it can have a heat stroke if its to hot, but then again its a tropical bird, DEPENDS ON THE TEMP!

  4. If it is night time and the temperature is not over 85F then you can cover your bird with a light sheet, nothing thick. During the daytime though do not cover no unless it is chilly and do not leave your bird in direct sunlight. Birds do not have sweat glands so they become over heatedly quickly. If your bird is hot you will notice it start to pant.

    Hope this helps.
