  1. As long as you have a surge protector, you'll probably be OK with your computer on.  But its a good idea to turn it off anyway, unless you really need to be on it.

    If you dont have a surge protector, turn it off now.


  2. Leave it on only if you're under a tornado warning and you are using it to monitor a tornado or suspected tornado that is of crucial interest to you either for your own (or a friends) safety. Leave it on if you have an off-line (or remote) system backup and you can afford to replace it in the event it gets wiped out. Otherwise, turn it off and unplug the PC components (power strip if components plug into a power strip). If monitoring severe weather, by all means take cover immediately  when danger is imminent.
