  1. PLEEEEASEEEEEEEEE do me a favour and don't do anything too big! I know it's a big occasion and its very special but please don't do stuff just to be better that the other mothers!  You're beautiful bub won't remember it and there are plenty more b'days to spend your hard earned bucks on!

In saying that, I'd have a big long table with lots of paints & paper and crafty stuff so they can take their own masterpiece home at the end of the day. dip their feet/hands in paint and all that sorta stuff.

My ma just stuck me in a room full of balloons on my 1st b'day.  She said I loved it!

  2. From my experience, 1st birthdays are usually very adult-focused.

During the afternoon, have all the other parents round with thei little ones.  The children won't understand much (except slightly older siblings) and just have a parent chat.  Maybe party food, etc. for the parents.  Something healthy and of an appropriate texture for the children.  Maybe something else healthy but crunchier for any older siblings.

In the evening, it's usually hometime for junior visitors, bedtime for the birthday boy/girl, and party downstairs with friends for the adults.

    Is this helpful?

  3. For my sons 1st birthday, we had it at our home. Invited close family and friends, and had it on a sunday afternoon. We had a bbq it was a chilled out gathering. For our nieces and nephews who came we played a few games and had party bags for them. I wouldnt go mad - yes its a special occassion but just try and make it as easy as possible because in a few years you are going to be running round after a house full of kids! xx

  4. Don't do it!!!!

  5. Keep it simple for sure! You don't need the hassle, just have a great cake, party hats, streamers and all the usual stuff... How old are his cousen's if any? If they are old enough maybe get a petting zoo? If you ring around they may do it on the cheap and just bring maybe 3 or 4 animals... Thats if you have the space ofcourse! Otherwise just stick with a good old BBQ and some party food... Get the hose out if its hot... And the sprinkler the kids love those things!

  6. Heyy Hunnyy...x

Maybe a Little Bouncey Castle For The Kiddies =] ...x

Get Some Partyy Bags && A Few Sweets & Toys...x

Get All The Party Food Out For The Parents...x

    & Enjoy Your Sons 1st Birthday...x

  7. No point spending too much money on a 1st birthday because the baby doesn't understand or remember it. The day is more for the parents I think. I just has a little tea party for my family when each of my kids turned 1. My niece will be 1 in August so my sister is doing a BBQ for friends & family.

  8. At 1 year old you must be joking, just say Happy Birthday , which he won't understand and invite the in laws

  9. Assuming all the children in attendance are no older than one, then this is really for the adults.  The children are not aware one little bit of what is going on,  party games are completely pointless.  Nonetheless it is important to mark the occasion so I would have your best friends round for coffee and chat about baby worries (there are many), do a cake (the parents will eat it) and get them out of the house as quickly as you can.  Believe me in three years time you won't be having the parties round your house and you won't be looking forward to them either!

You may also experience an urge to buy lots of cheap plastic toys from China, the marketing for which suggests your child could not possibly conduct their life without them.  WARNING DO NOT BUY THE PLASTIC c**p FROM CHINA (or any other country for the matter).  There is a chance you may still buy it subliminally without realising, it's ok it happens to all  of us (the pricing is tempting); just make sure you take it straight to your local dump after purchase.  On no account bring it home, it will be in the garage within two weeks and thus half way to the dump in any event.

Give your one year old an empty shoe box to play with or stick some coloured pasta in a plastic bottle.
